The Dark Suns of 2017

Coming on February 26 there will be a solar eclipse visible in South America and western Africa. Then, on August 21, will come the great American eclipse which will run across America from Oregon to South Carolina.

In recent years much has been written about the sign of the lunar eclipse, or Blood Moon. In the scriptures the Moon is the faithful witness in the sky (Psalm 89:37). According to the Apostle Peter (Acts 2:17-21), quoting from the book of Joel (Joel 2:28-32) the Blood Moon is a sign of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and salvation during the Church Age. The Blood Moon is a picture of how Believers are made righteous through the blood of Jesus.

The solar eclipse, or Dark Sun, is also one of the signs of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and salvation in Acts 2:17-21 and Joel 2: 28-32. During the solar eclipse the moon, representing the Believers, moves into the sun, which represents Christ, the Champion and the Bridegroom in Psalm 19. The unity of the Sun and Moon during the solar eclipse is a sign of our unity in Christ. However, for those who are not in Christ the dark of the sun is a picture of the darkness coming on the Day of the Lord, the Judgement Day (Acts 5:20). Thus, the Dark Sun is an invitation to the Believers to be one with Christ and a warning to non-believers that they will face God’s judgement.

The Dark Sun of February 26 occurs on the first day of the 12th Hebrew lunar month of Adar. The Jewish celebration of Purim, memorializing the deliverance of Israel from its enemies, occurs at mid-month and like the Dark Sun is a warning to the enemies of God. Also, on February 24, the planet Mercury, the “Morning Star Laid Low” which symbolizes Satan (Isaiah 14:12), disappears from the sky in yet another warning to God’s enemies.

Later this year, on August 21, there will be another Dark Sun which streaks across America on the first day of the 40 day Hebrew repentance season of Teshuvah. The word Teshuvah means to return to the presence of God, and we believe that the Teshuvah Eclipse marks God’s call for a 40 day period of repentance and returning to God. We also believe that God is calling people to make a pilgrimage to the Eclipse path for Sacred Assemblies kicking off Teshuvah on August 21. More information about this prayer initiative can be found on the Teshuvah2017.com website.

So tonight let the Dark Suns draw you to return to God’s presence while the stars of Christ’s Second Coming, like Taurus (The Bull), Orion (Coming Forth as Light), and Leo (The Lion) stand overhead as a warning to God’s enemies. Tell you friends it is not too late to choose life and return to Christ.
