A new Comet has appeared in the Eastern sky just before dawn.
The Comet, known to astronomers as Catalina, will be a fifth magnitude object in December and January as it moves through the Heavens. It will only appear once, being sent into interstellar space by the gravitonal pulls of the planets. The Comet will be part of a significant grouping of planets and stars during the Feast of Hanukkah which begins on December 6, 2015.
On that date the Comet will be in the feet of Virgo, reminding us of the Blood Moon of March 23, 5 BC which was also in the feet of Virgo at the time of Christ’s birth. The planet Mars, symbolic of the Blood of Jesus, will also be in Virgo as it was during the Blood Moon of April 15, 2014 (See our Blog of 9/23/15 “Blood Moon Finale”). The Moon itself, picturing the Believers, will pass through Virgo on December 6 and 7. It moves past Mars on December 6 to remind us that the Blood Moon symbolizes the covering by the Blood of the Lamb for an outpouring of the Spirit, salvation, and overcoming evil.
On December 7 the Moon will eclipse the planet Venus, the Bright Morning Star which represents Christ. This unusual joining of the Moon and Venus sends a message reminiscent of Christ’s prayer in John 17:20-23 that the Believers be one in Him and united with each other. With the message of Unity in Christ comes the message of Hanukkah to purify our temples, now in our hearts, as the Second Temple was purified and made ready for Christ by the miracle of Hanukkah.
To reinforce the message of Unity with Christ and within the Church the Comet moves out of Virgo on Christmas Eve and into the constellation Bootes (The Coming One). It pictures Christ as the Harvester of the Earth (Rev 14:14-16) , suggesting a great harvest as the Church acts in Unity (John 17:23). On New Year’s day it move to within one half degree of the bright star Arcturus (The Coming One), sending a second message of Unity in Christ.
From there the Comet moves into Ursa Major (The Assembled Together) which pictures the Church. It moves close to the star Alkaid, meaning “The Assembly”, confirming that its message is for the Church. Then it moves past the star Mizar, meaning “The Separated”, confirming the message of Hanukkah to purify ourselves and separate ourselves from the world. After moving past Mizar the Comet will disappear forever, leaving only its message of Unity and Purity for revival in the Church.
An interesting aspect of this Comet’s message is its relationship to the 2013 comet Ison which appeared at the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles and evaporated in the Sun on Hanukkah (See our Blog of 12/4/13 “Comet Ison Makes its Point”). Comet Ison warned the Church to purify itself in preparation for the 2014-2015 Blood Moon Tetrad, and then disappeared on Hanukkah in 2013. Comet Catalina picks up where Ison let off, on Hanukkah of 2015, with a message to the Church to purify itself and come into Unity to reap the revival harvest begun during the Blood Moon Tetrad.
You can view the Comet about an hour and a half before dawn this week. It will appear earlier every morning as it moves through Virgo, Bootes, and Ursa Major. It is expected to be very dim, so be sure to use your binoculars to find it. The actual eclipse of Venus by the Moon will not be visible because it occurs during daytime in North America, but the Comet, the Moon and the planets in Virgo on Hanukkah should be well worth viewing.
So get up early, look for the Hanukkah Comet, and tell somebody how God is unifying His Church for a great revival.
