Next week on May 26 early risers in the western half of America will be treated to a Super Blood Moon just before dawn.
A Blood Moon is a lunar eclipse which derives its name from the blood red coloration of the eclipsed Moon. The total eclipse will last only 18 minutes, occurring just prior to dawn as the Moon is setting. It is a “Super” eclipse because the Moon is closest to earth and appears to be 8% larger than normal.
The scriptures provide the clues to understand the sign of the Blood Moon. The Moon, called “The faithful witness in the sky” in Psalm 89:37, is symbolic of the believers. On the day of Pentecost, which is celebrated just a few days prior to the Blood Moon, Peter associated the Blood Moon with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and salvation (Acts 2:17-21). The blood red color signifies covering by the Blood of the Lamb which gives the power to overcome Satan “By the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our Testimony.” (Revelation 12:11)
Two other aspects of the Blood Moon can highlight the message it conveys. The first is timing, which, as mentioned previously, comes just after Pentecost. It should be noted that a lunar eclipse cannot occur on Pentecost because the date comes on the seventh Sunday after the full Moon of Passover, a period of 50 to 56 days, while the interval between full Moons would be 59 days. Even so, the proximity to Pentecost indicates that the Lord is signaling His desire to pour out His spirit and bring salvations.
The second aspect illuminating the Blood Moon Message is the location of the Blood Moon in the sky. This Blood Moon is located in the constellation Scorpio, which symbolizes the rebellion of humanity against God. Things have only gotten worse since that book was released in 2017. So a message that we can overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony is very timely.
In fact, there have been a number of prophetic words calling for an “Open Hunting Season” on the demonic forces loose in our land.
The only time in the Bible when we see Satan and his demons overcome by believers is when Jesus sent out the 72 evangelists to preach the gospel and bring healing (Luke 10). We believe that God is wanting to send out an army of believers covered by the Blood to overcome Satan and bring salvations through an outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
So rouse yourself out early for the Blood Moon on May 26 and resolve to join the Blood bought red army of overcomers.
