The Riddle of September and the Sphinx
In ancient times much was made of “The Riddle of the Sphinx.” You may be wondering why we are talking about the Riddle of September and the Sphinx. It turns out both riddles have the same answer.
The Sphinx was a mythical creature which had the head of a woman and the tail of a lion. The Sphinx was the solution to its own riddle, as the key to the mystery of where to break into the circle of the stars to begin Star story. The head or beginning, was a woman: The constellation Virgo the Virgin. The tail, or end, was the ajoining constellation Leo the Lion. Some Egyptian zodiacs in fact place the Sphinx between Virgo and Leo so that the riddle is revealed to all.
September is the Sphinx month because in September just before the equinox the sun moves out of the constellation Leo and in to constellation Virgo. Thus the Star Bible story begins in September with the promise of the Seed of Woman in Virgo and moves through each sign of the Zodiac until reaching the final sign of Leo where Christ rules over all.
By the end of September early risers will be able to see the tail of Leo at dawn as it moves out of the sun. Then those early risers can watch in the
east as the Star Bible begins anew and Virgo slowly begins to appear in October.
