Carried Along by The Winged Horse

At this time of year the Winged Horse, the Constellation Pegasus, takes its place directly overhead at about 10:00 pm.  The Constellation is easily recognized by the large square formed by its stars, also known as the “Great Square of Pegasus.”

There are three horses pictured in the Constellations of the Star Bible, and all of them symbolize spiritual power (see Zechariah 6:1-8).  The first, Centaurus, (“The Despised One”) is a man-horse combination which symbolizes a man of great spiritual power:  Christ.  Centaurus stands directly over the Southern Cross, which shows how the Despised One of Isaiah 53:3-5 was pierced for our transgressions and brought us peace. The second, Sagittarius (“The Archer”) is a man-horse combination announcing the Coming of Christ, The Arrow of God, the Despised One formed in the womb by God to bring salvation to both Jew and Gentile (Isaiah 49:1-7).

Pegasus tells a different story, as Christ the “Despised One” was crucified and “The Archer” was raised from the dead and returned to Heaven. Pegasus The Winged Horse is a riderless horse which is related to the Zodiacal constellation Aquarius, the Water Pourer, representing the Holy Spirit (John 7:37-39)

The spiritual Man of Power has returned to Heaven, but the Spiritual Power represented by The Winged Horse remains to remind us that Christ promised to send the Holy Spirit to empower the Church to carry His message (Acts 1:8). The star Algenib (The Carrier) reminds us of how the Holy Spirit carried His people (Isaiah 63:8-14). Two other stars, Enif (The Water) and Matar (Who Causes to Overflow) make it clear that The Winged Horse is carrying the water of the Holy Spirit.

Pegasus will be directly south of the Zenith, standing above the Moon, symbolizing the Believers, as if to remind us that the Holy Spirit is still available to us all.

So, tonight find the Great Square and the other Stars of Pegasus, so you too can be carried along by the winged horse of the Holy Spirit.
